Navision Users Meet in Cyberspace via AVF's Discussion Forum

AVF has added a Discussion Forum to its website to help connect Navision users.  The web-based forum allows participants to post questions, feedback, suggestions and topics for conversation online. It’s free for everyone.  All you need to do is visit the site to request a logon and password and you will have access to a community of Navision users. Tap into other users' experiences to discover methods that make your job easier and more effective.  Visit www.avfconsulting.com/Forums/ or access the forum directly from AVF's homepage at www.avfconsulting.com.  You will need to sign up online for a free logon and password before you can participate in the forum.

The forum currently contains different sections for individuals to post information.  These topic sections include:
User Group:  Feedback and Topics
Not-for-Profit: Serenic
For-Profit:  Navision
AVF Helpdesk
We will continue to create new sections as participation grows and new topics are introduced.

The key to a successful Discussion Forums is participation.  An active community inspires creativity and movement toward answers and solutions that affect everyone.  We strongly encourage you to logon and voice your opinions, concerns and successes as well as seek out advice from others.  AVF staff monitors the online Discussion Forum so that we can assist in topics that might require insight from trained and certified Navision experts.

If you need training on how to use the Discussion Forum, let us know prior to the next User Group meeting and we can take a few minutes to give you a guided tour and show you how to post topics, view postings and respond to postings.  There is also an FAQ link in the Discussion Forum that helps you navigate through the site. See you online!

Microsoft Navision 4.0 Release on October 29, 2004

Microsoft Navision 4.0 Enhancements Include:
The Main Menu Gets a Whole New Look - We have listened to our customers’ wishes for easier navigation within Navision and have responded by introducing a Navigation Pane similar to the one in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. The new Navigation Pane helps users work more efficiently in Navision by combining easy-to-access menu information with personalization options. Further, users with administrator permissions for the Navigation Pane have various menu configuration options.

Improved Decision Support - New pre-defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) can be viewed in a generic graph component in Microsoft Navision 4.0 that can be customized by partners. The pre-defined KPIs represent Financial Management, Supply Chain Management and CRM. The graph component enables users to create a simple bar chart diagram consisting of a limited number of squares and the ability of drilling down. The graph can be generic and customized by partners.

Intercompany Postings - Intercompany Postings allows customers to create all the necessary documents – sales and purchase documents, general ledger entries and more – for the entire workflow, for more than one company at a time. Intercompany Postings allows for multiple databases, multiple currencies, different charts of accounts and multiple languages. With Intercompany Postings, customers can make the correct due to/due from entries in more than one company, using relevant intermediary accounts. Transactions referring to another set of books within the same group of legal entities can be entered directly in the GL or when entering sales and purchase documents.

Transparency and Analysis Enhancements - Transparency and Analysis enhancements enable users to perform the most central and frequent tasks in a more productive and enjoyable manner. Improved designs in the user interface support greater ease of use and efficiency, while taking a sales order. New reporting functionality supports decision makers on a day-to-day basis.
Manufacturing Foundation for Microsoft Business Solutions–Navision - Manufacturing Foundation 4.0 is the entry point for our manufacturing solution. It is a complete solution for manufactures with simple production requirements and at the same time the basis for including more advanced functionality that can be bought in separate granules.

Microsoft Business Solutions–Navision Business Notification - Microsoft Navision Business Notification is an easy-to-use functionality within Microsoft Business Solutions–Navision that generates e-mail messages to your employees, suppliers, partners, and customers to inform and alert them of critical business conditions. Microsoft Navision Business Notification helps you improve management control of your business and the effectiveness of your business processes. With Microsoft Navision Business Notification, you can always be aware of changing business conditions, and you can make sure that your operation tracks to your plan. Extensive Quality Improvements - There has been a sustained effort in the supply chain area to improve the quality and stability of the offering. Enhancements made in this project include: Code re-factoring of adjust cost batch job (code unit 5895), Average cost improvement, including better expected cost handling, Ability to use lot number for UOM (Unit of Measure) >1 within the receipt process of WMS (Warehouse Management System), Ability to include posted shipment date on invoices to conform with EU regulations.
