Microsoft Transitions to a New
License Pricing Model: Over the last several months, Microsoft Dynamics NAV has transitioned from the traditional module-based licensing model to a new model called Business Ready Licensing (BRL). Traditionally, customers were required to purchase each product feature (also known as a granule) individually and then combine the total granule price with the price of the total number of concurrent users (also known as sessions). With the BRL model, customers simply select from two preconfigured packages, Business Essentials (BE) and Advanced Management (AM), and the price of the software is then based on the total number of concurrent users purchased. The BE package includes a core list of product features (granules) which are specifically designed to meet the needs of less complex business environments. The AM package includes all of the BE product features as well as a variety of additional features specifically designed to meet the needs of more robust business environments. While BRL pricing is now being used for all new Microsoft Dynamics NAV purchases, existing customers are being given the opportunity to transition to BRL or stay with the traditional licensing model. Existing customers who choose to stay with the traditional pricing model can continue to license additional users and functionality under the granule-based pricing as long as their Microsoft Dynamics NAV version is still supported. For some customers, a migration to BRL may bring added functionality at a lower price than the prior pricing model. Those customers most likely to benefit from a migration to the BRL pricing will fall into one of the following categories:
To honor the investment you have already made in Microsoft technology, Microsoft is offering a credit for the protected list price of your existing solution to be applied to the cost of transitioning to the BRL model. For each customer the price of transitioning will vary, so please contact Jeremy Fass if you are interested in getting a price estimate. There are some requirements and limitations for transitioning to the BRL pricing model including, but not limited to, being current on your Microsoft Dynamics NAV Enhancement Plan. For details regarding BRL pricing or to discuss the benefits a transition may have for your organization, contact Jeremy Fass at jfass@avfconsulting.com or 443-279-1019. |
