Maximize Jet Reports with Training and Consulting from David Opdahl,
AVF’s Resident Expert
If you aren’t
using Jet Reports to its fullest benefit, then AVF can help with
training and consulting services from David Opdahl, CPA and Navision
Consultant. David is a CPA with over 25 years experience advising small
to mid-sized businesses on financial management and reporting processes.
One of David’s primary roles with AVF is to provide Jet Reports
customers with a wide range of consulting and training opportunities.
David has found that for those who have just purchased Jet Reports,
training serves as a great introduction to the product. It can provide
an explanation about how basic reports are built, what the most commonly
used features are and what Jet Reports can provide specifically for your
business.
“Working with any relational database software like Jet Reports can be a
challenge,” says Opdahl. “Getting the data and reports just the way you
want them takes time and practice in using the software. I really enjoy
helping people get the information they need in the format they need it
in. It’s a real accomplishment to be able to help move your business
forward.”
In addition to training, David is happy to come to your office and set
up the reports that you need. This type of service can be helpful for
those individuals who have ideas about the type of reports they would
like to produce, but not enough time or knowledge to create them.
"Many people know what they would like the ultimate result to be, and
through a consulting session, I can help them find the best path to that
goal," says Opdahl.
All training and consulting sessions can be customized to fit the needs
of your staff and business. Training sessions can be held at your office
or at AVF. David can even arrange to use your own Navision database for
the training session, which allows everyone to more easily identify with
the procedures being presented and put what they have learned into use
more quickly.

Jet Reports Launches Version 5.0
Jet Reports has just announced the launch of
Jet Reports version 5.0. Jet Reports 5.0, like its predecessors, is a complete reporting
solution
built right into Microsoft Excel. Jet Reports allows Microsoft Dynamics NAV
(Navision) users to view and build reports
on any granule in Navision, G/L, customer, invoices, item or inventory.
The newest version of
Jet Reports 5.0, brings with it some very exciting new features, one of
which is the
Jet Report Wizard. This Wizard works in the same way as any
other Microsoft Wizard tool and allows Jet Reports users to start making reports with
little to no training or experience. The wizard simplifies report making into an
easy to follow seven
step guide.
Step 1 - Choose your datasource
Step 2 - Choose your field
Step 3 - Set up grouping
Step 4 - Set sorts
Step 5 - Set the Totaling fields
Step 6 - Set filters
Step 7 - Run Report
In minutes you can create reports from any granule in Navision and even build reports from multiple companies or databases.
There is
also a Jet Function Wizard (Jfx) which creates report building blocks to
help you get the specific information you need. Another new
feature is the online help tool which looks and feels like the online
help offered by many other Microsoft products. With the online
help tool, users have access to a variety of links so they can get to
the help information they need when they need it most.
With Jet Reports 5.0, you can view the reports you make from a Web page or
from a locked Excel spreadsheet. As a licensed viewer you can
change date ranges, refresh the reports against the database for the
latest information and drill down on any data in Navision, then navigate as
you wish. Jet Scheduler lets you schedule reports to run then
e-mail to your specified recipients.
