“DSS provides access to technology and services that smaller organizations and nonprofits might not otherwise be able to afford,”
--Andrew Fass, CEO, AVF Consulting
Dynamic Shared Services Names Gaines COO
BALTIMORE, MD (12/6/11) – Jeannette L. Gaines has been named Chief Operating Officer for Dynamic Shared Services (DSS), the business venture recently launched by AVF Consulting, Inc., founder Andrew Fass.
Gaines, Fass, and AVF Consulting Executive Vice President Jeremy Fass started DSS to provide accounting, membership management, dues processing, and reporting services to nonprofits and unions nationwide. The idea for DSS began when AVF’s client, Service Employees International Union (SEIU), wanted to provide accounting services to some of its local union offices.
“DSS provides access to technology and services that smaller organizations and nonprofits might not otherwise be able to afford,” explains Fass. “A strong need exists for this service, so it made sense to invest in DSS.”
Gaines’s strong leadership and experience working at SEIU made her the ideal candidate for the COO position. Gaines previously served as Director of Financial Services at SEIU’s Member Action Service Center in Redford, Michigan. There, she managed enterprise resource planning (ERP) system implementation and provided guidance on financial controls and processes for local unions.
Prior to SEIU, Gaines was Controller and Senior Director of Information Technology at ACO Hardware. A graduate of the University of Michigan and Walsh College, she is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants and former Treasurer of both the ACO Scholarship Foundation and the Dynamics NAV User Group.
“Jeannette is a versatile and accomplished Controller with more than 15 years of finance and IT experience,” says Fass. “Her experience in driving business initiatives, managing systems and controls, and ultimately delivering results that positively impact the bottom line make Jeannette a valuable asset to DSS.”
Gaines and Fass expect that, in addition to serving the financial and membership needs of unions and nonprofits, DSS will provide services to K-12 school systems. “Many small school districts and nonprofits simply don’t have the bandwidth to perform all the detailed accounting, reporting, and processing required,” Gaines notes. “DSS is not only expert at providing those services, but can do so at a cost savings. Using our service helps organizations streamline business processes, freeing up resources to focus on the organization’s core mission.”
DSS is the most recent brand spun off by Fass to complement AVF Consulting. When AVF Consulting uncovered a need for robust accounting and payroll software in the K-12 market, Fass and his team launched K12 Enterprise, Microsoft’s leading financial and HR management software for K-12 school systems. The company also started ChargeLogic to provide a suite of products that enable secure, PCI compliant payment processing, e-commerce, and shipping services.
